I decided to learn more about the Russian ballet Petrushka because the story line interested me. It was choreographed by Michael Fokine with music by Stravinsky, who also wrote The Firebird and Le Sacre du Printemps, and it was designed especially for the dancer Serge Diaghilev. The ballet is about a puppet made of straw and a bag of sawdust who magically comes alive. It only has 4 scenes and is supposed to take place in about 1830. I am interested to see what the puppet dancing would look like once it comes to life. Another fun fact about this music is that it was the show theme for the Spirit of Atlanta Drum Corps in 1988!
